Serrah Brod

Owner and Artistic Director

As an award winning choreographer, Serrah brings many years of experience from numerous studios, companies, and dance teams from around the country. Her approach to the artform of dance has inspired students from the East Coast to the West Coast.

Serrah originates from Minneapolis, Minnesota. In Minnesota, Serrah trained at the University of Minnesota, DanceWorks, Zenon Dance Company, and Ballet Arts. She was a principle dancer in several companies and participated (as well as choreographed) in many ballets such as, Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella.

Shortly after finishing school, Serrah relocated to Los Angeles, California to further her dance education. While there she received a scholarship to dance at the prestigious Academy of Performing Arts in San Diego. After performing Irish soft shoe and jazz, she was invited to dance in Scotland for a CD release for Celtic Fusion.

Serrah performed at the halftime show for Superbowls XXVI and XXVII and has been featured in several commercials, such as Adidas, Sketcher, Joe's Jeans, and Target.

Her training has afforded her the opportunity to train with Denise Vought of Royal Ballet, Jean Isaac - the pioneer of modern dance, Chebar Williams,  and Xavier Hicks. She also worked with Wade Robson, and Shane Sparks while in L.A.
Along with her studio life, Serrah judges dancers and pageants around Richmond. She and her husband are the proud parents of two girls, and one boy.


Julia Abbot

Upper Level Jazz and Dance Team

Julia Abbott is a native of Midlothian, Virginia and is beginning her third year with us. She began her dance study with Richmond's Marion Meese at the age of 6. While living in Midlothian, she attended Jessica Morgan's School of Dance and Ingrid's Dance Theatre.

Following graduation, Julia moved to Florida and studied fine arts and dance at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida. While taking classes she taught jazz and lyrical dance at The Dance Studio, Tallahassee and was a principal dancer for The Renescent Dance Theater. In 1998, Julia relocated to Tampa, Florida to cheer for the NFL's Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

While in Tampa, she also performed with Radio Disney and was a danced at Super Bowl 35 with recording artist Sting. Julia also enjoyed teaching jazz and ballet for adults at Rungo Academy, Clearwater, Fl. Before moving back to Virginia, Julia developed and taught Ballet Fitness at Safety Harbor Resort and Spa.

After coming home to the Richmond area, Julia became a dancer and co-choreographer for The Richmond Bandits, and Richmond Speed Arena Football teams. Currently she is the coach and choreograhper for the new Richmond Arena football team, the Richmond Revolution.

Mindy Wright

Intermediate Ballet, Tap, and Jazz

Mindy Wright has been dancing and teaching dance for over 30 years. Originally from Miami, Florida, Mindy has trained under some of the best teachers and choreographers in the business. Mrs. Wright was also the owner and director of Dance & Theatre Unlimited School of Dance in Powhatan (1990-1998). She has taught many dance students in Powhatan and the surrounding counties. Mrs. Wright has also choreographed award winning dances, productions, and beauty pageants on a local and national level. She has won several awards for her choreography, some having national ranking. Mrs Wright is also the Director of the Powhatan High School Indianettes Dance Team. She pioneered the team in 2001, and after a short break has returned to direct them for the past few years. Mrs. Wright is also employed full-time at Pocahontas Elementary School as the school secretary/registrar.


Kate Kobiashvilli

Intermediate and Advanced Ballet

Kate comes to us from from The Woodlands, Texas and we are happy to have her for her second year with us, She was a member and a principle dancer of The Woodlands Dance Company. Her favorite roll with them was the Sugar Plum Fairy in Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker. She was also a member of the nationally recongnized competitive dance team, The Highsteppers. She spent her summers taking classes at the Houston Ballet and the South Carolina Dance Conservatory. She has a B.A. from Hollins University where she continued her dance training.


Kathy Conner
Acrobatics
Kathy Conner began dancing in Europe when she was five years old.  As an “Army Brat,” she traveled all over the world taking dance in many places into her college years.  Early on, she began taking acrobatics classes which progressed into gymnastics.  She began competitive gymnastics  in high school and continued into college at the University of Southern Mississippi.  After graduating from college, Kathy began teaching and coaching in Chesterfield County.  She coached gymnastics at Midlothian High School for nine years and taught acrobatics at Jessica Morgan Dance Studio.  Kathy resides in Powhatan with her husband, Gregg and two children, Brett and Morgan.


Cindy Mills

Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet/Tap

Cindy has been dancing for over 35 years. Her training took place in New York City and New Jersey. She studied under Alvin Alley and at the New York Ballet. She also attended Rutgers University and studied for her teacher certification.
After relocating to Richmond in 2001, Cindy began working in pre-school dance for Dancing Little Stars, Inc.. Since then, Cindy has taught dance in the Powhatan/Midlothian area.
Cindy specializes in combining fun and creativity while teaching proper dance technique.
She specializes in instilling the love of dance while also teaching proper technique.
