Serrah Brod – Owner/Artistic Director  

As an award winning choreographer, Serrah brings many years of experience from numerous studios, companies, and dance teams from around the country. Her approach to the art form of dance has inspired students from the East Coast to the West Coast. 

Serrah originates from Minneapolis, Minnesota.  In Minnesota, she trained at the University of Minnesota, DanceWorks, Zenon Dance Company, and Ballet Arts. She was a principal dancer in several companies and participated (as well as choreographed) in many ballets such as, Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella.  

Shortly after finishing school, Serrah relocated to Los Angeles, California to further her dance education. While there she received a scholarship to dance at the prestigious Academy of Performing Arts in San Diego. After performing Irish soft shoe and jazz, she was invited to dance in Scotland for a CD release for Celtic Fusion.  Serrah performed at the halftime show for Super bowls XXVI and XXVII and has been featured in several commercials, such as Adidas, Sketcher, Joe's Jeans, and Target. 

Her training has afforded her the opportunity to train with Denise Vought of Royal Ballet, Jean Isaac - the pioneer of modern dance, Chebar Williams, and Xavier Hicks. She also worked with Wade Robson, and Shane Sparks while in L.A.  Along with her studio life, Serrah judge’s dancers and chorography’s for dance teams around the Richmond area. She and her husband are the proud parents of two girls and one boy.

Rebecca Weger - Upper Level Ballet, Pointe, and Dance Company Chorographer

Rebecca began dancing at a very young age and was trained all over North Carolina, South Carolina, and many areas of Virginia.  During high school she trained with Dr. Susan Muterspaugh of Bridgewater, VA.  Her dance and scholastic studies then carried her to Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA.  There she studied on both dance and academic scholarships and graduated Magna Cum Laude, with a B.A. in Dance.  During her career she has had the opportunity to study many dance styles and techniques such as ballet, jazz, modern, tap, character, and folk as well as dance choreography and dance history.  These studies have allowed her to work with many esteemed teachers and choreographers such as Mary Marshall, Robert Cook, Alan Hineline, Mark Diamond, Gabriel Otevril and Elie Lazar.  These choreographers and teachers have given her many opportunities for performing Corps De Ballet and Solo Works, most notably Aurora in Sleeping Beauty and as an Ugly Stepsister in Pedro Szalay’s Cinderella.  Rebecca has taught at the Myles Reif Performing Arts Center in Grand Rapids, Minnesota, for Richmond’s Ballet’s Minds In Motion program in Roanoke and Martinsville, Virginia and was the Ballet Mistress, for the Southwest Virginia Ballet, Virginia’s pre-professional dance company.  She has her Pilates Method of fitness training certification through FiTOUR and taught for many years in private dance studios and for Roanoke College in Salem, VA. as an Adjunct Professor.  Currently she is working for the Richmond Ballet as the School’s Manager.

Mindy Wright - Ballet, Tap, Jazz Combo Classes Instructor and Dance Company Chorographer:

Mindy B. Wright , also known as Miss Mindy, began her dance training in Miami, Florida at the Eileen Wall Dance Studio (Currently known as Dance Unlimited), under the direction of Eileen Wall and Danie Beck and Joe Michaels Dance Studio (Father of Mia Michaels). Mindy studied ballet, tap, jazz and acro. As a member of the Miami Dance Company, she performed in several Orange Bowl parades and half-time shows.  She was also a member of the Dolphin Dolls, which was a junior dance team for the Miami Dolphins Professional Football Team. Miss Mindy began teaching dance to young children at the Eileen Wall Dance Studio and through the YMCA of Greater Miami. After relocating to Powhatan in 1989, Miss Mindy opened her own dance studio, Dance & Theatre Unlimited - School of Dance, which she owned and directed from 1991 through 1998. During that time, she founded the Premiere Dance Company, which was a non-profit dance competition group. Miss Mindy has earned a numerous amount of choreography and achievement awards for her work, with some receiving national ranking. Over the years, Miss Mindy has taken master dance classes in New York, Virginia, and Miami from such well-known teachers and choreographers as Darren Contessa, Mallory Graham, Betty Hoctor, Danny Hoctor, Jamie Hoctor, Karen Prunsik, Anne Norman Van Gelder, J.R. White, Barry Youngblood, and many more. Miss Mindy has also choreographed award winning routines for several local and national beauty pageant contestants. Miss Mindy is currently employed by Powhatan County Public Schools and works as a secretary/registrar for Pocahontas Elementary School. Miss Mindy is also the founder and director of the Powhatan High School Dance Team. Miss Mindy has 40 years of dance training and over 30 years of dance teaching to her credit.

Suzanne “Neo” Lynch – Hip Hop Instructor and Dance Company Choreographer   

Neo is so excited to bring her style to Premiere Dance Studio and can’t wait to get started with all the students!  She is a former competition dancer from Alexandria, VA where she studied jazz, ballet, tap, pointe, lyrical, gymnastics, contemporary and hip hop for 15 years. She attended Virginia Commonwealth University studying Criminal Justice, then pursued a career as a professional dancer upon moving to Atlanta in 2006. There she quickly excelled as a top industry dancer and performed with Beyonce, Ciara, P. Diddy, Nelly, Bow Wow, Keri Hilson, The Dream, and Cherish, to name a few. She has graced the stages of the MTV VMA’s, BET Awards, BET HipHop Awards, MTV's Sweet 16, MTV Japan, and Good Morning America, in addition to being a principal dancer in dozens of national and international music videos. She has toured with Ciara, Mary J Blidge, Jay-Z, New Kids on the Block, Chris Brown, and the International Raggs Kids Club Tour. Neo has been featured in commercials for Dunkin Donuts, Tyler Perry and Verizon Wireless, and was recently a hip-hop Coach on MTV’s hit series “Made.” She has worked with Frank Gatson, Fatima Robinson, JaQuel Knight, Jamaica Craft, Marty Kudelka, Jamie Parrish, and Laurieann Gibson. Her creativity, warm spirit, and certification as a personal trainer has landed her opportunities to serve as specialty choreography consultant/trainer to music videos for R&B artists Ciara, Keri Hilson, Tami Chynn and Cherish.  Of all of her professional experiences, her proudest achievements have been of sharing her passion for dance with students.

Alissa Pagnotti-Roswick - Tap Instructor and Dance Company Choreographer   

Alissa earned a BFA in Musical Theatre at The Boston Conservatory and has had opportunities to work with some of the best in the industry.  She has worked and studied with Brenda Buffalino, Savion Glover, Gregory Hines, Tony Waag, Margaret Morrison, Buster Brown, Heather Cornell and many more.  Not only has she worked and studied with some of the best, she has also taught at some extremely well known and talented studios.  Along with teaching, she has been a competition choreographer and coach at Anita Ehlers Dance Extensions, Fabulous Feet, Performers Theatre Workshops, New Jersey School of Ballet, and Long Lake Camp for the Performing Arts just to mention a few.  She has performed with Manhattan Tap – Jr Company, New York Delhi Mix – Dancer – The Danny Kaye Theatre NYC, Song and Dance in the Park – Neighbors – Pags and Co., International Fesitval of Colors – Neighbors – Pags and Co., and Tap City – American Tap Dance Orchestra.  Along with performing she has Choreographer some outstanding pieces/shows such has Neighbors – an original, standalone piece of choreography, exploring the activities of neighbors in an apartment complex and the laundry room, Pippin, Ragtime in concert; staging and choreography, Godspell, Joseph, A Christmas Carol, Jesus Christ Superstar and the list goes on. Alissa and Premiere are looking to another great year of Tap at the studio.

Desiree Stone – Acrobatics  

Desiree began her dance training at the age of nine with Mary Lynn Bergstrom and Bobbie Jo Kelsey at the Windwood Hill Dance Academy in Pennsylvania. There, she received training in Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, and Modern. After leaving WHDA in 2003, Desiree began training in Lyrical, Acrobatics, and Contortion with Charity Creech at Lighthouse Productions in New York. Her display of hard work and determination earned her two United States Tournament of Dance titles in Acrobatics (2005 and 2007), two second runner ups in dance (2004 and 2005), and an Oscar Award for Best Flexibility and Contortion (2005). In addition to her titles, Desiree performed with the United States Tournament of Dance and Acrobatics team in 2005-2006. In 2007 Desiree began coaching gymnastics for Angel Vaccaro at Techniques Gymnastics in New York. Her greatest influences as an Acrobatics/Dance Instructor are Danita Emma, Stephanie A. Surowka, Finis Jhung, Kathryn Morgan, and Panni Speirs. She is thrilled to be part of the PDS team.

Shannon Mills - Beginning Hip Hop and Beginning Contemporary Instructor

Both Shannon’s are previous Dancers at Premiere Dance Studio and have been dancing since the age of 3.  They competed on our Award Winning Dance Team, have been Teacher Assistants at the studio, and are excited to share their love of dance.  They both are full-time College Students, but are very dedicated to dance and Premiere.  We are excited for them to teach what they have learned over the years and look forward to watching them grow and bring their creativity to Premiere!

Melinda Bastiaensen - Office Manager

Melinda brings her Human Resources and Customer Services skills to Premiere Dance Studio. She has been a Human Resource Manager for two fortune 500 companies in the Richmond area. Melinda has been involved with Powhatan Schools by volunteering with the PTO’s for the past 10 years, holding many positions such as Yearbook Adviser, Hospitality Chair, Treasurer, and President. She utilizes her professional, volunteer, and personal skills in wearing many hats at the studio. She has the ability to multitask, and maintains one of the goals of Premiere in providing the best experience for both the children and the parents. While living abroad in Belgium she met her husband Peter and they have a daughter and twin boys. Although Melinda has always been behind the scene helping for the past 5 years, it’s official now and is a great addition to the Premiere Family as the Office Manager.
